Scholarships & Awards
Each year Ohio ProStart students from all over the state are awarded up to $50,000 in scholarships to pursue their culinary dreams. Scholarships are awarded at the annual Celebration of the Stars banquet where we recognize the students’ many accomplishments. We are proud to offer undergraduate and alumni scholarship opportunities to our ProStart students and graduates.
Outstanding ProStart Student
This award honors a student who shows great promise and aptitude for a future in the restaurant, foodservice and hospitality industry and embodies the ProStart core values of leadership, passion and community. We honor this student at the Ohio Restaurant and Hospitality Alliance Industry Awards dinner in December.
Educator Awards & Accolades
Outstanding Industry Educator
This award honors an educator who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to the advancement of the Ohio foodservice industry. This award is open to ProStart as well as non-ProStart educators. We honor this educator at the Ohio Restaurant and Hospitality Alliance Industry Awards dinner in December.
Teacher of Excellence
The Ohio ProStart Teacher of Excellence Award is awarded to an outstanding Ohio ProStart educator who has made a significant contribution to their students, school and their community. The winner is recognized at the annual Celebration of the Stars Luncheon. The winner is Ohio ProStart’s candidate for consideration at the National Educator of Excellence Awards held at an NRAEF event in the summer.
Schools of Distinction
A School of Distinction designation is bestowed upon schools that have at least 70% of their seniors enrolled in ProStart which earn the industry credential, ProStart Certificate of Achievement and at least 70% of all students enrolled passing the Level 1 and Level 2 exams in any given academic school year.
Teachers of Distinction
The Teacher of Distinction signifies the most engaged teachers in the Ohio ProStart. They participate in events, activities and opportunities to the fullest and maximize the classroom learning experience for their students. These teachers participate in the Ohio ProStart Invitational; submit student certification forms and scholarship applications annually; access Ohio ProStart supports; attend the annual Teachers Institute and Celebration of the Stars events; and complete all ProStart surveys and reports. These teachers are always willing to help improve and support state and national ProStart. We salute these Teachers of Distinction and thank them for their service.
